It's a great chance to meet, work and socialise with  up to 120 other young members, find out more  about the union, and learn key organising skills.</p><p>The weekend is for all Young Members aged 26 years or under. It is suitable for experienced activists as well as members who have never been involved with UNISON before. <br /></p><p><a href="http://www.unison.org.uk/file/070208YoungMemCirc.pdf">Application Form</a> - Fill in and <a href="http://scunison.squarespace.com/welcome/">post or fax</a> to the Branch Office to be countersigned and forwarded by an appropriate branch officer. The closing date for applications is <strong>23 March 2007.</strong><br /></p><p>The cost for the weekend is &pound;200 which is paid by the branch and includes accommodation and meals. Travelling expenses will be met by the national office and will be arranged once confirmation of a place on the weekend has been received.</p><p>UNISON does all it can to ensure that no-one is prevented from participating in its activities. If you have any access needs or childcare requirements, please indicate on the application form. Members who wish to bring along their partners to Belfast, but not participate in the weekend's activities, can do so at an additional rate of &pound;10 per night (bed and breakfast only). Free for children under 12 but any meals taken will be charged for. I am now too old to be elected to this positon so the branch is currently seeking a replacement to take on the role of Young Members' Officer - <a href="http://www.unison.org.uk/acrobat/B2066.pdf">learn more about the role</a> (skip to page 4).</p><p>In the report it was accepted by the AGM that:</p><ul><li>the branch Health and Safety Officer initiates a programme of training (basic risk assessment etc.) on behalf of all branch members and that young members are encouraged to become <a href="http://www.unison.org.uk/active/safetyreps.asp">Health and Safety Representatives</a> - this being one of the most popular roles for young trade unionists and attracting paid time off to carry out the role and undergo excellent training leading to qualifications.<br /></li><li>due to the size of our branch, each workplace nominates a young members&rsquo; contact.
