Dear UNISON members,

Please send a message of solidarity to all your members from members and supporters of the Socialist Party in Southampton, Portsmouth, Oxford, Reading and the Isle of Wight.

Our paper the Socialist has highlighted the struggle of your members for decent pay. We salute the courage and determination of your members to take a defiant stand against the drive to impoverish public sector workers with endless attacks on their terms and conditions.

The shameful policies of local authorities under the pressure of New Labour need to be fought. Your example will be a source of encouragement to others who face the same attacks. A victory for yourselves will be a victory for all public sector workers.

We will ensure news of your strike is circulated to trade union branches in the region via our members and supporters. Please inform us of any news of your dispute or any ways in which we can help you at this time.

Yours fraternally,

Nick Chaffey

Socialist Party Regional Secretary

& UNISON Steward, Southampton District (Personal Capacity)
