Resignation of our Branch Secretary

Friday, May 25, 2007 at 11:40AM

It is with regret that I have to announce the resignation of Ian MacDonald as Branch Secretary of Surrey County UNISON. Ian's resignation letter is attached as a link below. He has given us two months notice and will remain in post in an advisory capacity until 13th July.

A new Branch Secretary will be elected in July. Any member wishing to stand for the Branch Secretary position or make any nomination should advise the branch office before 15th June. In the interim period I have been elected to 'act up' in the branch leadership role.

Ian's resignation comes on top of many months of difficulties within the branch and we apologise to those of you who may not have had your individual cases dealt with as swiftly and efficiently as you (and UNISON) would have liked.

It is still , as always, the case that we need more activists to come forward as stewards and branch officers. Please contact us for more information if you are interested.

On behalf of all members of Surrey UNISON, I would like to acknowledge Ian's outstanding contribution to UNISON over many years and wish him well in the future.

Paul Couchman, Acting Branch Secretary
